Back to You: Reclaim Your Wellness Routine

Back to You: Reclaim Your Wellness Routine

Aug 9th 2026

Late summer has an interesting rhythm.

We’re still holding onto long evenings, outdoor plans and the freedom of summer, but calendars are starting to fill again. School begins. Work picks up. Organizations and activities restart. Weekends get booked. Before long, the slower summer moments that seemed easy to find in June can disappear.

That’s why we’re approaching this time of year a little differently at Urban Apothecary.

Instead of back to school, back to work, back to schedules, back to everyone else, we’re calling this season:

Back to You.

Not because you need another elaborate wellness routine. You don't need a complete reset. Self-care should not be one more thing on your to do list.

Back to You is simply an invitation to notice how you’re feeling, what you need now, and what might make the next season feel better.

Maybe that means adding something supportive.

Maybe it means returning to a habit you’ve missed.

And maybe (this is important) it means doing less.

Start With a Check-In, Not a Shopping List

Before reaching for a new supplement, reorganizing your entire morning or deciding you’re suddenly going to become someone who wakes up at 5 a.m. to meditate, ask yourself a few simpler questions:

How do I feel when I wake up?

Am I getting enough rest?

How does my body feel lately?

What has been taking most of my energy?

What have I stopped doing that used to make me feel good?

Where could I use more ease?

That last question may be the most useful.

Wellness isn't about doing everything “right.” It’s about building enough support into everyday life that you have more capacity for the people, work, hobbies and experiences that matter to you.

And your routine should be allowed to change with you.

Make Your Wellness Routine Smaller

We tend to overcomplicate self-care.

Drink more water. Exercise. Meal prep. Meditate. Take supplements. Journal. Stretch. Get eight hours of sleep. Reduce screen time. Spend time outside. Manage stress.

All useful ideas.

Together? They can become another job.

So instead of rebuilding your entire life this fall, choose two or three small rituals that you can realistically maintain.

Maybe it's:

  • Ten minutes outside with your morning coffee
  • A short walk after dinner
  • Herbal tea instead of another afternoon coffee
  • Keeping a favorite aromatherapy blend at your desk
  • Stretching while you watch TV
  • Taking a bath one evening a week
  • Putting your phone down half an hour before bed
  • Saying no to one thing you don't actually want to do

Small routines have an advantage: we actually do them.

Begin With the Morning You Already Have

Your morning wellness routine doesn't need to start at sunrise.

Think instead about what could make the morning you're already living feel a little better.

For some of us, that means movement. For others, quiet.

Maybe it's a warm cup of herbal tea, a walk around the neighborhood, a few stretches, or five minutes without immediately opening email or social media.

This fall, we're especially interested in building a healthy morning around herbs, using familiar bases like coffee, chicory or dandelion root and exploring botanical additions that can turn an everyday drink into a more intentional ritual. Look for a cozy blending class coming soon, or stop in we can help mix up something delicious AND healthy.

The point isn't perfection.

It's beginning the day by doing something for yourself before the day starts asking things from you.

Move Because You Want to Keep Moving

Movement is one of the simplest wellness practices we have and it doesn't have to happen in a gym.

Walk.

Hike.

Garden.

Bike.

Skate.

Dance.

Stretch.

Explore a trail you've never been on.

Do something that reminds you that movement can feel like living, rather than another health requirement.

And pay attention to what your body asks for afterward.

At Urban Apothecary, many of our everyday wellness products were created because real bodies get sore, tired and overworked.

Our 4XL Pain Relief Stick, Pain Relief Roller and Deep Relief Magnesium Spray are easy additions to a post-movement or end-of-day routine when you're looking for topical support and a little extra care.

Bring Back the Ritual of Tea

There’s something different about making tea.

You have to stop.

Heat the water.

Choose what you want.

Wait.

Let it steep.

Drink it.

And sometimes that small pause is exactly what the day was missing.

As cooler mornings begin to return, this is a natural time to rediscover herbal teas, roots, spices and honey.

You might choose something warming in the morning, something refreshing in the afternoon or a comforting blend as part of your evening routine.

You don't have to know everything about herbs to begin.

Start with what you enjoy drinking and what fits naturally into your day.

That’s one of the things we love most about an apothecary: wellness can be curious, sensory and personal rather than rigid.

Support Your Evening Before You Try to Fix Your Sleep

When sleep gets off track, it's tempting to focus only on what we can take to help us sleep.

But a better place to begin may be with what happens before your head hits the pillow.

If the last hour of your day is filled with email, scrolling, unfinished work and mentally running through tomorrow's list, your body may not have much opportunity to recognize that the day is actually over.

Try creating a simple transition between daytime and done.

Dim the lights. Put the phone down. Take a warm bath or shower. Make a cup of evening tea. Stretch for a few minutes. Read something that has nothing to do with work. Write tomorrow's tasks down so you don't have to keep carrying them around in your head.

Then, if you want additional nighttime support, choose something intentionally designed for that purpose.

Our Sleep Support Gummies have become our go-to (and bestselling) option for customers looking to support a more restful nighttime routine. Each full-spectrum elderberry gummy combines CBD, THC and CBN in one consistent formula designed specifically for evening use.

The gummy can be part of the routine.

But the routine itself matters too.

It's the repeated signal that says:

We're done for today.

And sometimes giving yourself permission to be done is one of the most important parts of preparing for rest.

Remember That Self-Care Can Also Mean a Boundary

This may be one of the most overlooked parts of wellness.

Sometimes what you need isn't another thing to add.

It's something to stop carrying.

As fall schedules return, notice how quickly empty spaces disappear from your calendar.

You don't have to automatically fill them.

Leave an evening open.

Don't attend every event.

Say no without creating a three-paragraph explanation.

Ask for help.

Delegate something.

Let somebody else do something differently than you would.

Rest before you're completely depleted.

Self-care isn't only what happens in a bath or a cup of tea.

Sometimes it sounds like:

“I don't have room for that right now.”

And sometimes it sounds like:

“I need some time for myself.”

Reconnect With Something That Has Nothing to Do With Productivity

What did you enjoy before everything became about getting things done?

Reading?

Gardening?

Painting?

Cooking?

Walking in the woods?

Roller skating?

Music?

Travel?

Seeing friends?

Doing something simply because you enjoy it isn't wasted time.

In fact, this may be the season to put something enjoyable onto the calendar before obligations take all the available space.

You don't need to become more productive at self-care.

You may simply need more moments when you're not required to produce anything at all.

Your Back-to-You Reset

If you want to make this practical, start here.

Choose just one thing from each category:

For your body:
What would help you feel more comfortable, rested or active?

For your mind:
What would create a little more quiet or ease?

For your time:
What can you protect, simplify, delegate or stop doing?

That's your wellness routine.

Not someone else's morning checklist.

Not a trend.

Not twenty new habits starting Monday.

Yours.

Come Back to Yourself This Season

At Urban Apothecary, we've always believed wellness is personal.

Sometimes you need herbs.

Sometimes you need movement.

Sometimes you need a better evening routine.

Sometimes you need something supportive for an aching body.

And sometimes you need to close the laptop, turn down an invitation and go outside.

As summer begins giving way to fall, you don't have to rush immediately back into everyone else's needs.

Take a moment first.

Check in.

Make some room.

Choose what deserves your energy.

Before you go back to everything else, come back to you.
